I took it easy this summer. I didn’t have a lot of projects for myself, but there are still things I wanted to get done.
For 19 years, I worked the same teacher conference, guiding teachers to integrate technology into their curriculum. The conference concluded two years ago, as the host organization shifted its focus. But, the first week of August was always that tipping point. That was when the conference turned my brain on for planning for the new year.
I am now waking up at 3 am, brain 150 miles per hour with ideas and to do lists. The lists are for this summer and next spring, as my first child graduates. And, I have so many items to prepare for the school year.
For the second year in a row, all of my Library how-to presentations are out of date with updates to Destiny. I have spent the last month working on some curriculum planning that will roll out in a really cool way. I will share that spreadsheet to presentation process soon.
Over the last few days, I have simply done a brain dump. A notebook sheet is full of just thoughts. To dos. Ideas. People to connect with. Places where I need to change the start times for classes, as we have a new schedule. My Brain Dump is my current Reflecting Forward… and it feels like chaos.
What I have been successful doing is some planning for visual additions to the Library and bulletin boards to start the year. Families and my fellow teachers won’t know the chaos in my lists — if the Library looks pretty for Back to School days.
So, here’s an glimpse of two big projects that will roll out in the Library soon…
