A perfect read aloud for a STEM, Music and/or Art class!

Tonight I previewed Emmy in the Key of Code for a teacher wanting a book to read to a 6th grade Advisory. This book was absolutely perfect.

It’s in verse so great for quick snippets. It’s about moving, fitting in, trying to make friends, a bully, parent tension… all with both a ton of music AND coding jargon.

I listened to the audio book, and it has pieces that read so well in musical beats and in rhythm.

It would work well in a STEM school with the coding connections. It has so much music vocabulary, an entire unit could be built around it. And, it would be perfect for an Arts school to represent so many different talents of the students at the school.

Take some time and read Aimee Lucido’s Emmy in the Key of Code.
